Directed by Matthew M. Howe and J. Christian Ingvordsen, “Huntress” is set to be a fascinating horror film that is all set to release in 2024. The atrocities and brutality of the second world war moves the story of ‘Huntress’ as it depicts the horrifying and last stages of the war. Depicting the chaos of the last days of World War Two centers its plot around a group with an army medical unit who somehow ends up behind enemy lines, however, they do not remain alone as a strange angry killer seems to be always haunting them. There is very space dealt in the movie as it throws light on topics such as human brutality and the terror of struggle for existence while complete chaos reigns in the backdrop of war.

Synopsis

With the blueprints slowly unfurling as the war nears its end the movie becomes more and more intoxicating, a German medical unit gets encircled and hereon gets ignored resulting in them getting deep into the enemy side of the world. The visual aspect brings forth bloodbaths giving way to more than gripping atmosphere, being geographically surrounded there is the shortage of supplies caused due to the raging war, being surrounded by the enemy only heightens the tense situation. The bleak reality only goes downhill with the introduction of a sadistic shadow who stabs the team members and the chilling visuals only distort what’s left of humanity. The mess gets messier with the Second World War nearing its end. The unknown adversary seems absolutely unbeatable ripping the survivors of their survival option giving rise to heavy causalities and a desperate sense of hopelessness.

Cast & Crew

Drawing out the detailed narrative and his experience as a pilot of a war-torn world, Mike Larry is set to take over the role of a Tuskegee Airman who was part of a black squadron that is a property of war history.

Sarah Hawthorne as Annie Jones: As the medical staff member on board this ship Annie Jones’s character is of pure strength and valiance amid the unending threats that surround her.

Sophie Hewitt as Ursula: This figure serves to demonstrate the fragility and strength synonymous with the women and children in a war zone.

Violet Savage as Helga: With her character of a woman facing very grave and real threats, she adds another dimension to the plot.

Braxton Sohns as Will Davis: However, this journey also exposes a lot of the friction and ties that the group has with one another.

Paul Darren Varricchio as Sergeant Murphy: This character is the leader of the team and has the most authority but he does also seemingly struggle with the burden that comes with leading the team in such a grave situation.

Laura E. Wood as Greta: She adds to the storyline with her performance that depicts the complexity of human emotions in a world filled with barbarism that wars usually tend to create.

It is worth noting that the picture was made two ways and both directors are Matthew M. Howe together with J. Christian Ingvordsen who also penned the film’s story with Iris Blake and James Felix McKenney. The expectations from the films are to highlight the plight of the innocent with the terror of warfare as a locales.

IMDb Ratings

With a score of only 2.8 out of 10 on the site, “Huntress” does not seem to be finding favor with its audience. It received such poor ratings due to a host of complaints that I could observe some viewers mention including averagely bad special effects, bad character development, and the plot being too predictable “Huntress” was poorly executed from start to finish, and many viewers were left feeling displeased with what would classify as so much low effort for a horror film.

Conclusion

The premise of “Huntress” lies in combining horror elements with an intense period drama during the Second World War, portraying the traumatic experiences of people during the last days of the Second World War. The concept and all the hard work that the cast and crew had put into it seems to have gone in vain because the film simply does not appeal to the viewers which is also reflected by its low IMDb rating. Yes, the movie definitely has an interesting back story but the way it was made and portrayed seems to lack in the ability to make the audience remember a single scene from the movie. Fans of war and horror in “Huntress” should find something interesting but everyone else should not expect much from it because it is going to have pacing and flow issues.
